We are well on the way for the 2017 -2018 school year.
The school kitchens have been going through some changes. I am now at the High School but I have been coaching the Elementary and Early Childhood Kitchens. Diane Petersen is now the lead cook at the elementary, Kris Blonigan is in the new early childhood/kindergarten kitchen. We have a very good cook staff that helps us, which we are very thankful for.
The Middle/High School kitchen is offering two different main food items everyday, plus subs, sandwiches and salad bar. The children are enjoying having options. The two elementary kitchens are offering fresh vegetables and fruit daily. I am happy to see the younger children taking and eating the fresh items.
We are still doing the offer verses serve breakfast and lunches. This requires the student to take 3 food components for every meal and one item has to be a fruit or vegetable.
